Jennifer
Lopez Plans Return To TV

Jennifer
Lopez is set to return to the small screen, starring in a TV
special this fall and producing a sitcom based on her life growing
up in the Bronx.
Returning
to the medium where she got her start — as a "Flygirl"
dancer on the comedy series "In Living Color" — Lopez
will showcase material from her latest album, J. Lo, in a
one-hour NBC special, according to Reuters.
The
sitcom, which has yet to be titled, will draw material from
Lopez's youth, the news service said. While she won't star in the
series, Lopez will serve as the executive producer.
Lopez
stars in the motion picture "Angel Eyes," a big screen
romance set for release Friday.
Jennifer
Lopez To Perform On NBC Special, Produce Sitcom

Jennifer
Lopez will perform in a musical special this fall on NBC, the
network announced Monday (May 14). In addition, NBC has committed
to three additional music/entertainment specials, as well as a
half-hour situation comedy loosely based on Lopez's family life
growing up in a Bronx neighborhood. Lopez is expected to perform
only on the music special, but she will executive produce the
sitcom. Her production company, Nuyorican Productions, along with
Handprint Entertainment, will produce the additional specials and
the half-hour series.
Lopez
told LAUNCH recently that she loves singing, acting, and dancing
equally, but it was her acting that launched her career: "You
know, I started my career singing and dancing, doing musical
theater, and stuff like that, which a lot of people don't know. So
it was always part of the package for me--singing, dancing,
acting--it was always the pursuit of a career for me. It was the
three things so, you know, I just went from there. It's kind of
like where my career kind of took me. I just followed the path
that was in front of me, and it just worked out that the acting
took off first."
NBC
executive Jeff Gaspin said in a statement: "We're
excited to have this multidimensional deal with such a talented
and varied artist as Jennifer Lopez. She's the perfect match for
NBC and we look forward to working with her on her first network
special and beyond."
This
will not be the first time Lopez has been featured on the small
screen. Her career shot into high gear after performing as a
"Fly Girl" dancer on the Fox comedy-variety show In
Living Color in the early '90s. Since then, Lopez has starred
in films such as Money Train, Out Of Sight, Selena,
The Cell, and The Wedding Planner. Her new film, Angel
Eyes, opens on Friday (May 18) in theaters nationwide. Lopez
also has two multiplatinum albums to her credit, On The 6
and J.Lo, and she also recently introduced her own fashion
line.

Halts Sex-Video Rumors
Source: Yahoo, Sunday
May 13, 2001
He spent five years in state prison, but Death Row Records
godfather Suge Knight apparently still knows what sells.
Like,
for example, Jennifer Lopez and sex.
Following
a spate of rumors that Death Row Records planned to sell an
unauthorized sex video starring Jennifer Lopez, the notorious rap
label came clean Friday when the actress filed an invasion of
privacy lawsuit against the company.
The
legal battle came just as Death Row Records confirmed that Suge
Knight Films planned to release a video this summer, salaciously
titled J.Lo Uncut: Tha Real Story. A spokesman for the
label remained mum on the video's contents, but the title alone
seemed to heighten speculation that Knight--as one tabloid
reported this week--purchased a naughty home video from one of
Lopez's former boyfriends.
"It
should be out by mid-summer, but I don't know the content of the
tape," a Death Row spokesman said.
That
was enough to put J.Lo's lawyers on the attack. The
singer-actress, who claimed to have no prior knowledge of the
video (if it actually existed), asked the court to prevent Knight
and Death Row from using her "name, voice, photograph or
likeness in any manner."
But
almost immediately after filing suit, Death Row backed down, and
its lawyer wrote a letter to Lopez's camp clearing things up:
"My
client is currently producing a videotape entitled J.Lo Uncut:
Tha Real Story," writes Death Row attorney Jeffrey Lowy.
But he added that Knight "does not possess a so-called 'sex
tape' involving Ms. Lopez and an ex-boyfriend."
Sorry,
guys. You'll just have to stick with Pamela Anderson and Tommy
Lee.
"There's
no sex video, there never has been," Lopez's publicist, Alan
Nierob, tells E! Online. "We've said all along that we highly
doubted it. If it were the case, it would've been non-consensual,
without her knowledge and a complete invasion of privacy."
Nierob
said his 30-year-old client had no choice but to take legal
action. "We called them and we couldn't get an answer, so
you've got to protect your client," he added. "She
doesn't know of any tape that exists, but what if there was a tape
done without her knowledge?"
The
gossip tornado first began swirling Wednesday, when the Star
supermarket tabloid published a story quoting an unnamed Suge
Knight Films exec, who claimed "There is such a video, and it
is definitely Jennifer Lopez. No doubt. You can see the big butt
and everything."
The
Star's source claimed the tape featured Lopez making love
to a "long-time-ago" boyfriend who set up a candid
camcorder during an encounter in the early 1990s. The ex-boyfriend
was said to have sold the video to Knight, who planned to sell it
on the Internet this summer.
Knight
is currently in Sacramento County Jail, awaiting transfer to a
federal facility after completing a five-year stint in state
prison for an assault-related probation violation. The 310-pound
rap impresario has long been a fierce rival of Lopez's
ex-boyfriend, Sean "Puffy" Combs.
In
addition to quashing the sex-video rumors Friday, Death Row lawyer
Jeffrey Lowy insisted that his client did not leak the original
story to Star magazine.
Nierob
said that, because of Death Row's admission, Lopez's lawsuit will
be dropped. "It's sort of a moot point because if there's is
no tape, and they've gone on the record, it doesn't go
further," he said.
Either
way, Death Row has developed quite a reputation for scoring
invaluable publicity at the expense of its rivals. Last December,
the label took a jab at one of its former stars, Snoop Dogg, by
posting the "Snoop Dogg Challenge" on its Website. The
site featured links to songs from Snoop's new album for Master P's
No Limit label, That Last Meal, and then encouraged
listeners to compare it to Death Row's own Snoop rarities release,
Dead Man Walkin'.
When
asked Friday whether the J.Lo video was simply a PR stunt, Death
Row spokesman Jonathan Wolfson replied, "You make what you
want out of that," and then added, "It's never a dull
moment on the Row."
Pop
stars stricken by illness
Source: Worldpop, Friday
May 11, 2001
Jennifer Lopez has been struck by fatigue this week and Samantha
Mumba's movie has been postponed due to the director's recent
sickness. J Lo only just returned to work yesterday on her new
movie Enough, which sees Lopez play a woman who leaves her bully
husband, after production was held up because she was suffering
from fatigue. Lopez this week also missed a press function for
Angel Eyes which is released in the US next weekend. Although the
exact nature of her illness is not known, her publicist said
fatigue was likely to have been a contributing factor. The singer
has endured a hectic schedule lately, busy launching her own
clothing line called Baby Doll and touring Europe, the Far East
and Australia on a promotional visit on the back of the release of
her J. Lo No 1 album.
Meanwhile
filming on Samanatha Mumba's debut movie Time Machine has been
stopped due to illness of director Simon Wells who is suffering
'extreme exhaustion.' Production is due to begin again on Saturday
19 May. The movie is due to hit the big screen this December in
the US.
Good
news for Jill Scott. The critically acclaimed solo singer has now
been released from a Philadelphia Hospital where she had been
recuperating after being hit by a serious lung infection. Doctors
expect the R&B star to make a full recovery.
'Puffy'
Recalls Romance with 'J.Lo'
Source: Yahoo, Tuesday
May 08, 2001
Frank
never got over Ava. And Joe always carried a torch for Marilyn.
Now Puffy says he'd still run into a burning building to save J.Lo.
In
a Vanity Fair interview that hits newsstands Wednesday, Rap
impresario Sean ``Puffy'' Combs said he and his ex-girlfriend,
singer-actress Jennifer Lopez, had a romance that ranked right up
there with the storied relationships of Frank Sinatra and Ava
Gardner, Joe DiMaggio and Marilyn Monroe.
``We'd
always say to each other that I was Frank and she was Ava. ...
Everything always being up and down,'' he told the magazine in an
article focusing on the life and career of Lopez. ''Or Joe
DiMaggio and Marilyn Monroe. I can understand why there was a lot
of energy in the relationship.''
``For
me, it was the most energy I gave to a relationship. Sometimes,
when two people get together, you feel a certain type of spark
that's like, 'Yo!'''
Combs,
31, told the magazine he and Lopez, 30, remain ``good friends''
and that he'd even risk his life to save hers.
``She'll
always be someone that I love. All she's gotta do is think -- she
doesn't even need to pick up the phone -- and I'll be able to feel
her,'' he said. ``Even in her darkest hour, if she's in a building
and there's a fire and somebody's gotta run in and there's a 99
percent, 100 percent chance that they'll die, I'll run in there
after her.''
According
to Vanity Fair, Combs didn't give up on their romance easily. He
arranged for soul singer Luther Vandross to serenade Lopez in a
recording studio and even sent her 100 white doves, but it was to
no avail.
The
Harlem-born hip-hop mogul and the Latina bombshell from the Bronx
officially ended their highly publicized romance of more than two
years on Valentine's Day. The split came as Combs was standing
trial in New York on weapons and bribery charges and Lopez was
basking in the success of her chart-topping album, ''J.Lo,'' and
her last movie, ``The Wedding Planner'' which opened at No. 1 at
the U.S. box office.
For
her part, Lopez told Vanity Fair, the ordeal of the trial and the
investigation leading up to it was ``extremely painful and
draining, but I'm sure not half as much as it was for him.''
``I
just tried to be there for him. I tried to stay positive, even
when I didn't feel positive,'' she told Vanity Fair on the set of
her latest film, ``Enough,'' a follow-up to her
soon-to-be-released film ``Angel Eyes.'' ``And I was always a
phone call away.''
Although
prepped as a witness in the case, Lopez was never called to
testify. She has always maintained that Combs was wrongly accused.

Lopez, Hilfiger Unveil 'J.Lo' Fashions
Source: Yahoo, Thursday

Attention
women of the world who have problems finding casual wear to
properly hug their curves: Jennifer Lopez wants to dress you in
her favorite styles and make you look unashamedly sexy.
``It's
time for the world to wear my look,'' Lopez told reporters at a
press conference on Thursday to introduce a new line of
self-designed ``sporty chic'' urban wear especially for women and
spun from her own imagination. ``From little to voluptuous
everybody gets to be sexy,'' she said.
The
collection, worn by several models appearing with Lopez, looked
like it comes straight off the streets of her native Bronx: Low
slung French jeans with lace-up backs, tiny T shirts, powder blue
velvet sweat suits, acid washed denim mini dresses stitched
together from various pairs of jeans, denim spike-heeled boots.
J.
Lo herself wore white bell-bottomed hip hugger slacks with
attached white suspenders, a belly-baring white Lycra tube
emblazoned with a sequined Puerto Rican flag, and chunky silver
high heeled sandals.
``Just
because you dress sexy doesn't mean you're a bad girl, it just
means you know how to dress,'' Lopez said.
The
``J.Lo by Jennifer Lopez'' line is backed by an investment group
led by fashion and retail veterans Andy Hilfiger and Larry
Stemmerman. The team plans to launch the line of ``sporty chic''
and sexy denim, stretch and casual wear in time for the 2001
Thanksgiving and Christmas holiday season.
A
more extensive ``J.Lo Lifestyle'' collection including swimwear,
eyewear and accessories is expected to follow, Lopez said.
The
garments will be reminiscent of what the public has seen Lopez
wear in her movies and videos but will not, at least in the
beginning, include the kind of much talked about couture evening
wear such as the barely there V-front Versace dress she wore to
last year's Grammys or the sheer Chanel number the wore to the
73rd annual Academy Awards last month.
PRICES
WILL RANGE FROM $20 TO $850
The
J. Lo line will be carried in better department stores and
specialty stores. Prices will range from around $20 for a T-shirt
to $850 for a leather skirt.
Within
the next year-and-a-half the company expects to top $100 million
in sales, including the accessories, Andy Hilfiger, brother of
lifestyle wear designer Tommy Hilfiger, told reporters. He
declined to divulge any other financial details.
The
shapely Lopez, who in February became the first woman to top both
the U.S. music and movie charts in the same week with her current
release, ``J Lo,'' and film ``The Wedding Planner'' approached
Hilfiger and Stemmerman about the joint venture through her
managers, the team said.
She
told reporters that designing clothing is a childhood dream come
true and stems from her efforts as a little girl growing up poor
in the Bronx who cut up cheap and old clothes to make them fit
better.
``Even
before I learned to dance and sing and act in films I was just
redesigning clothes. ... I found that there was not exactly what I
needed that fit me at that time ... From the time I was little I
would get a really whacked pair of pants really cheap and cut them
and make a beautiful tiny mini skirt out of them because I was on
a lower budget at that time,'' she said.
``Or
I'd get just a plain sweatshirt and I'd make suspenders out of it
by (cutting) off the sleeves, or I'd get a little pair of my pants
for my birthday and I'd open them up, sew them together, cut them
off, and I'd have a really cute little pink mini skirt, or
something. I'd rip off the Smurf pockets.''
Even
after becoming a star, Lopez said, she has had a difficult time
finding clothes that fit her properly and has had to resort to
having pieces tailor-made to fit both her narrow waist and
voluptuous hips. Her line grows out of a desire to help other
women like her find clothes that fit their curves.
``I
find it is difficult for women who are curvaceous to find clothes
in stores that fit. The voluptuous woman is almost ignored. I want
to offer clothes that are wonderfully designed and will fit women
of all sizes. Everybody gets to be sexy.''
Lopez
said she's aiming to dress a wide range of women from preteens to
adults.
Jennifer
Lopez: True Love Takes Time
Source: Yahoo, Tuesday
April 17 ,2001
Actress
and singer Jennifer Lopez, who split with rapper Sean ``Puffy''
Combs earlier this year, does not believe in love at first sight
and prefers to take her time in matters of the heart.
``I
am not so easily aroused. For me it takes quite a long time until
the first kiss,'' Lopez told German women's magazine Journal fuer
die Frau. ``It doesn't always have to immediately get out of
control and into sex.''
Combs
was cleared last month of gun possession and bribery charges in a
highly publicized night-club shooting case. After the case the
artist who had been known as ``Puff Daddy'' announced he was
changing his nickname to ``P.Diddy.''
The
shapely Lopez, who in February became the first woman to top both
the U.S. music and movie charts in the same week, said she was
against judging women like British supermodel Kate Moss and "Ally
McBeal " star Calista Flockhart for being so thin.
``I
am totally against criticizing these women just because they are
thin. It would be just as idiotic if I was defined by my curves,''
she said.
The
Latina sex symbol denied reports earlier this year that her body
was insured for $1 billion.
Jennifer
Lopez Ditches Kahlo Project
Source: Yahoo, Monday
April 02 ,2001
Jennifer Lopez has dropped her plans to portray Mexican artist Frida Kahlo on the big screen and is instead negotiating to star as an FBI (news - web sites) agent for director Tony Scott in a Warner Bros. crime thriller, ``Taking Lives.''
Talks have commenced between the studio and Lopez's agents toward a deal that would pay her in excess of $10 million to make the drama her next film. The projected start date for the project would be the fall or once the threatened actors strike is either averted or settled.
``Taking Lives,'' a Jon Bokenkamp-scripted adaptation of the Michael Pye novel, would star Lopez as an FBI profiler on the trail of a prolific murderer who kills strangers and assumes their identities.
The film has nearly come together over the past several years in several forms. Scott has long toyed with ``Taking Lives,'' courting Gwyneth Paltrow and Cate Blanchett to play the FBI agent.
The project had lost most of its momentum when the ``Top Gun'' director departed the film to direct the Beacon Communications drama ``Spy Game'' with Brad Pitt and Robert Redford. Scott has now come full circle and is negotiating to direct the film with Lopez for Warner Bros., Village Roadshow Pictures and producer Mark Canton.
Lopez won't go forward with previously announced plans to play Kahlo in a film that was being prepped at United Artists for Luis Valdez to direct and Francis Ford Coppola to produce.
The biopic about the Mexican painter was effectively knocked on the canvas when a rival film, starring Salma Hayek, Alfred Molina, Geoffrey Rush, Edward Norton and Ashley Judd, was greenlit first at Miramax, with director Julie Taymor at its helm.
Lopez will next be seen in the Luis Mandoki-directed drama ''Angel Eyes,'' a film whose late July opening date has been shifted by Warner Bros. to May 18.

FOXY LADY

Jennifer
Lopez has a couple of beauty tricks up her sleeve - although she
doesn't usually have any sleeves on her barely-there outfits.
Impeccable sources say she routinely applies makeup to her breasts
when she wears a sheer top - as she did on Oscar night, which is
why the director kept the camera from straying below her neckline
when she presented an award. Word is she gives the men in her life
a treat by letting them apply the tint. J. Lo further enhanced her
beauty with false eyelashes made - our spies say - with the fur of
a red fox.
J.Lo
goes back to school
Source: Worldpop, Wednesday
March 28 ,2001
Ubiquitous
R&B singer-come-actress Jennifer Lopez, now known as J.Lo, has
confirmed plans to launch a range of clothing aimed at
schoolgirls.
Jennifer
Lopez, who famously (almost) wore a revealing, green Versace dress
to the 2000 Grammys, is preparing the clothing range together with
Andy Hilfiger, brother of designer, Tommy Hilfiger. No doubt the
clothes will be designed to get teenage males even more hot under
the collar.
Earlier
this month, worldpop exclusively reported that Lopez had signed a
deal to launch her own range of fashion wear with businessman Andy
Hilfger. Lopez, currently in Los Angeles filming Enough with Noah
Wyle, also says that she's scheduled to come to the UK and France
to publicise her J.Lo album in the next couple of months.
She
adds she hasn't any firm plans to make another movie after Enough
because of the threatened writers strike in Hollywood, but is
planning her debut tour, 'next year'. Earlier reports said she
would begin the tour in August.
J-Lo's
diva demands
Source: Worldpop, Saturday
March 24 ,2001
Jennifer
Lopez's diva demands for her upcoming tour are upsetting promoters
who claim her label is trying to offload some of the costs on
them, according to the New York Post.
The
Post reports that Lopez and her entourage are making demands for
specific flowers and scented candles in dressing rooms. It quotes
one unnamed source saying the label is trying to persuade
promoters
to pick up the tab for some of Lopez's more unusal requests. When
Lopez visited the Top of the Pops studios she made bizarre demands
for several dressing rooms for herself and her entourage with each
room decorated with thousands of pounds worth of white orchids.
But Lopez may not after all embark on her first ever concert tour
this year a spokesman for the singer-actress has said. The
spokesperson told the Post: 'A tour is not guaranteed. If there is
an actors' strike, it will happen, but if not, she might be making
a movie.' Lopez last month announced to reporters she intended to
tour North America beginning in August and hopefully play dates in
Europe later in the year.
Lopez's
spokesman tells the Post claims that Lopez has made demands for
specific flowers and scented candles in her dressing room just
aren't true. 'When an artist goes on tour, an artist rider (which
specifies certain things they must have) is a normal thing,' said
the rep adding, 'I can't speak about her rider. It's a
contractural obligation.'
Jennifer
Lopez Has 'Enough' In Film
Source: MTV, Monday
March 19 ,2001
With
her ex-boyfriend, Sean "Puffy" Combs, recently cleared
of gun possession and bribery charges in New York, singer/actress
Jennifer Lopez can now fully turn her attention to her new film
project, "Enough," slated to start shooting this
weekend.
Lopez will star in "Enough" as Slim, a waitress whose
life is changed after she marries a wealthy contractor named
Mitch, played by Billy Campbell from the TV drama "Once &
Again," according to Columbia Pictures, which is producing
the film.
After giving birth to a daughter, Slim flees her increasingly
abusive spouse with the newborn only to discover that Mitch is
following her. While on the run, Slim trains herself for a final,
violent confrontation with her husband.
Sandra Bullock had originally signed on to play Slim, but Variety
reported in November that she had to back out of
"Enough" because of a scheduling conflict with another
film.
Michael Apted, whose previous credits include the James Bond flick
"The World Is Not Enough," "Nell,"
"Gorillas in the Mist" and "Coal Miner's
Daughter," has signed on to direct "Enough" from a
screenplay by Nicholas Kazan.
In addition to Lopez and Campbell, actors Juliette Lewis, Noah
Wyle, Dan Futterman and Fred Ward have also been cast in the film,
which will be shot on location in Los Angeles, San Francisco and
Seattle. "Enough" was initially to arrive on screens in
September, but has now been pushed back to early 2002.
"Enough" follows up Lopez's "The Wedding
Planner," which went straight to #1 at the box office in
January. At the same time, she also topped the Billboard
200 albums chart with her second LP, J.Lo (see
"Jennifer Lopez Tops With Moviegoers, Music Buyers").
Lopez has already completed work on another film, "Angel
Eyes," in which she plays a police officer with a troubled
past. That movie hits screens on May 18.
Jennifer Lopez: Romantic Seeking Shining Knight
Source: Yahoo, Wednesday
March 14 ,2001
After breaking up with rapper Sean ``Puffy'' Combs, Jennifer Lopez sees herself as a romantic still waiting for her knight in shining armor.
``I was born a romantic. I operate from the heart -- that's who I am. Love is a big inspiration in my singing, in my acting and in my dancing,'' she told Britain's In Style magazine.
``I believe in unconditional love and doing things for people you care about,'' said the singer and actress, who has broken up with Combs, now on trial in New York on bribery and gun possession charges in connection with a 1999 nightclub shooting.
Lopez commands $9 million a picture and recently became the first woman to top both the U.S. music and movie charts in the same week with her current release, ``J Lo,'' and new film, ``The Wedding Planner''
``I always made the choice to do different things. I just didn't want to get pigeon-holed,'' she told the magazine.
Matthew McConaughey, her co-star in ``The Wedding Planner,'' agreed with Lopez's view of herself.
``Jen's definitely a romantic, a dreamer. She has a real sweetness that not everyone sees, like an 8-year-old girl. She loves 'Romeo and Juliet' and the idea of the knight in shining armor coming over the hill to take her away,'' he said.

queen. Jennifer Lopez is as much a part of showbiz in the 2K1 as
rap stars in trouble with the law ... (OUCH!). From film to film
she continues to display a knack for bringing people to the
theaters. And that's not to mention that at one time she had the
number one film, "The Wedding Planner," and the number
one album, "J-Lo," in the country. Not many people can
claim they ever did that. In fact, no one at all.
"I always

Looms Large Over Puffy Trial
Source:Yahoo, Thursday March 01 , 2001
As Sean
"Puffy” Combs prepared to give his version of a 1999
nightclub shooting, lawyers in the gun and bribery case argued
yesterday over what the hip-hop mogul's ex-girlfriend, Jennifer
Lopez, told a grand jury last year.
Combs' lawyer
continued to dangle the tantalizing possibility that Lopez would
take the stand in Combs' defense. But they bickered over whether
she could help or hurt Combs.
"My
expectation would be to call Mr. Combs, and after he completes his
testimony, we'll rest,” Combs' lawyer Benjamin Brafman told
State Supreme Court Justice Charles Solomon in Manhattan
yesterday. "The additional evidence may or may not include
Ms. Lopez. We'll alert you.”
Later, Assistant
Manhattan District Attorney Matthew Bogdanos squared off with
Brafman over Lopez's account of events on Dec. 27, 1999.
Jennifer
Lopez Won't Testify at 'Puffy' Combs Trial
Source:Yahoo,
Tuesday February 27 , 2001
NEW YORK (Reuters)
- Actress and pop star Jennifer Lopez will not take the stand in
the gun possession and bribery trial of her former boyfriend rap
mogul Sean ``Puffy'' Combs, the two said on Tuesday.
In a joint statement by Combs and Lopez released late on Tuesday
evening, Combs said, ``Since I intend to testify on my own behalf,
I feel it is no longer necessary for Jennifer to be involved in
these proceedings.''
Lopez added, ``If he (Combs) and his lawyers change their minds
and require me to testify, I will be there immediately to tell the
truth.''The stars, who recently split, reiterated that Combs is
innocent. Combs is expected to testify on Thursday.
Combs, 31, has
been on trial for a month for illegal gun possession and bribery
stemming from a Dec. 27, 1999, shootout at midtown nightspot Club
New York in which three people were wounded.Combs and his
entourage, including Lopez, left the scene and were chased by
police. Lopez has not been charged.
Combs, whose business empire includes Bad Boy Records and the Sean

Dress Not There But Grammys See Plenty

LOS ANGELES
(Reuters) - While Jennifer Lopez' drop-dead gown wasn't there this
year, other women artists did their best to rival the plunging
neckline that kept on going with equally revealing tops and bare
midriffs.
Jaws dropped as Destiny's Child, the sexy trio that took home the
Grammy for best R&B performance, sang and danced in bikini
length sequined outfits that revealed everything that could
possibly be shown on prime time.
Grammy winner and R&B singer Toni Braxton wore a white dress
with lines revealing even more bare body than the Lopez dress, cut
all the way down past her navel and held together only by thin
white strips on either side.
``I decided to let it go before I got married and it started to
hang out all on its own,'' Braxton said, fielding questions with
tongue in cheek. ``It's a double stick night.''read

Lopez'
love is global

In her private
life, she may have her troubles with ex-boyfriend Puff Daddy but
professionally; Jennifer Lopez can do no wrong. The Latin star has
retained the No 1 spot on the worldpop global singles chart for a
second week in a row. This week the singer announced details of a
40-date N American tour with a European tour to follow at the end
of the year.
Meanwhile Eminem's
Stan, a former No 1, retains the No 2 position this week. And the
voice on Eminem's Stan, British singer Dido, is the highest new
entry in the chart this week at No 20 with her new single, Here
With Me.
The Ricky Martin
and Christina Aguilera duet, Nobody Wants To Be Lonely is a new
entry at No 24 while Dario G's Dream To Me is new at No 37.

European tour

Jennifer Lopez
told a press conference in Hong Kong yesterday that she hopes to
tour Europe and the Far East later this year or early 2002. Lopez
has already confirmed plans to start a 40-date North American tour
beginning on 15 August. 'There are no definite plans plans for a
tour abroad but hopefully we'll be able to do it later this year
or early next year,' said Lopez.
Lopez is currently
on a short promotional visit of the Far East and Australia.
Yesterday she refused to answer questions about her ex-boyfriend
Puff Daddy and her rumoured romance with her new boyfriend, dancer
Cris Judd. Lopez did say she's keen to work with Russell Crowe
after being impressed with his performance in the Oscar nominated
movie, Gladiator.
Locals in Hong
Kong have named Lopez 'law ba', which in Cantonese literally
translates to white radish but also means 'super ips.'
Denies
Her Body's Insured for $1 Billion
Source: Reuters, Monday
February 19, 2001
American singer
and actress Jennifer Lopez Monday denied news reports that her
body is insured for $1 billion. ``No, and I know that was a big
rumor,'' the sex symbol told reporters in Hong Kong during a
promotion for her new album, ''J.Lo.'' ``I actually saved the
newspaper (reports) to show my kids one day, but it's not true.
Sorry,'' she said, giggling.
``The girl next
door has grown,'' Lopez said, when asked to comment on reports of
her excessive backstage demands. Lopez said she reads little of
what is written about her in the media, adding, ``Things tend to
be exaggerated a lot.'' Basking in the simultaneous success of her
music release and her latest movie, ``The Wedding Planner'' the
Latina star refused to discuss ex-boyfriend, rapper-record mogul
Sean ''Puffy'' Combs.
Combs is on trial
in New York on charges of gun possession and bribery in connection
with a December 1999 nightclub fracas in which three people were
shot. He said last week the two had ended their highly public
relationship. Early this month, Lopez's second musical release
debuted at No. 1 on the pop charts in the United States, Canada
and Germany while her film held the top spot in U.S. box office
takings until being knocked off last week by the thriller
''Hannibal.''
Lopez arrived in
Hong Kong Sunday and is due to leave for Australia Tuesday before
returning to the U.S.

'Puffy' Combs, Jennifer Lopez Break Up

J.Lo, say it ain't
so.
Rap star Sean
``Puffy'' Combs and singer-actress Jennifer Lopez, rumored for
weeks to be on the brink of a breakup, have ended their romance
after more than two years, his spokeswoman said in a St.
Valentine's Day announcement. Word that the Harlem-born hip-hop
mogul and the Latina bombshell from the Bronx were splitting up
came as Combs, 31, stood trial in New York on an illegal weapons
charge while Lopez, 30, was off promoting her chart-topping album,
``J.Lo.''
``Mr. Combs
confirmed that he and his love, Jennifer Lopez, have in fact
broken up,'' his publicist, Nathalie Moar, said in a statement.
``Mr. Combs is confirming this today as he wanted to put all the
rumors surrounding their relationship to rest. At this difficult
time we ask that you respect his privacy.'' Lopez's spokesman,
Alan Nierob, said he could not confirm or deny that the romance
was over, though he noted the well-placed source of the
information. ``Puffy Combs put out a statement confirming the
demise of their relationship. I don't know anything about it. It's
been read to me.''
By coincidence,
Combs' highly publicized trial in Manhattan Superior Court opened
two weeks ago as Lopez was enjoying a remarkable wave of success
in both her singing and acting careers. Her second musical
release, ``J.Lo,'' debuted at the top of the pop album charts, and
her new hit film, ``The Wedding Planner'' held the No. 1 U.S.
movie ranking until it was gobbled up by last weekend's opening of
``Hannibal.'' more

Lopez Appears on 'SNL'

Jennifer Lopez
poked fun at her Bronx roots, her diva status and her famous
Grammy Awards dress, but one subject was off limits on ``Saturday
Night Live." There were no jokes about boyfriend Puffy Combs
or his current trial on gun possession and bribery charges
stemming from their night out at a New York nightclub more than a
year ago.
Lopez performed in
skits as a scratching, clawing diva, as a struggling girl group
singer showing off her shared one-bedroom apartment on a mock
version of MTV's ``Cribs,'' and as a tough co-host of a mythical
``Good Morning Bronx'' TV news show. On ``Good Morning Bronx,''
she angrily separated two men fighting over unpaid rent. ``You are
not going to mess up my chance of being a Puerto Rican Connie
Chung,'' she wailed.

Lopez Again #1 At Box Office

For
second week, singer/actress's 'Wedding Planner' takes top spot; J.Lo
#1 on music chart.
Jennifer
Lopez will continue her reign at the top of the movie world for
another week, before "Hannibal" is expected to eat her
up.
"The Wedding Planner," which stars the sultry
singer/actress, is the #1 movie in the United States for a second
consecutive weekend, according to studio estimates issued on
Sunday. The romantic comedy pulled in $11 million, taking its
10-day total to $28.2 million, about equal to the film's
production budget, according to Reuters.
Lopez
is also atop the music world, as her second album, J.Lo,
debuted at #1 on Billboard's 200 albums chart last week.
The album is also #1 in Canada and Germany, and in the top five in
Australia, Britain and Italy.
Lopez
is the first person ever to top both the movie and music charts in
the United States at the same time.
"The
Wedding Planner," in which Lopez falls in love with the fiancé
(played by Matthew McConaughey) of one of her clients, has
received lackluster reviews but has faced little competition. The
Denise Richards horror flick "Valentine" debuted at #2
over the weekend.
However,
"Hannibal," the long-awaited follow-up to 1991's
Oscar-winning "Silence of the Lambs," opens Friday and
is expected to debut at #1.

Lopez Gives The J.Lo Lowdown

Monday, February 5, 2001
Jennifer Lopez has
left behind the days when she was the butt of endless jokes about
her famous derriere. Like a force of nature, the former Fly Girl
has taken on the world of movies and music, even giving a nod to a
certain Material Girl on the first single from her new album,
"Love Don't Cost a Thing"
The album's dancy,
independent-woman lead track is the first salvo in a barrage of
Lopez-motion. Her second album, J.Lo, conveniently dropped
the same week the double-threat star hits movie screens opposite
heartthrob Matthew McConaughey in the romantic comedy "The
Wedding Planner."
Lopez has grabbed
headlines over the past year-plus for everything from her
infamous, not-there Grammy dress and star turn in the bizarro
sci-fi drama "The Cell" to her ringside seat at a 1999
club shooting that has beau Sean "Puffy" Combs facing
possible jail time.read

"J.Lo" Dethrones Beatles
Source: Yahoo, Thursday
February 1, 2001
Jennifer Lopez
pulled off a media exacta over the past week as her new film, The
Wedding Planner, topped the U.S. box office grosses in its first
three days of release, while copies of her sophomore album, J.Lo,
rung up first week sales of 272,262 copies, a somewhat modest
arrival given the publicity machinery behind the album, yet enough
to land it atop the SoundScan's chart.Lopez's ascendance ended the
Beatles' eight-week stint on top with 1, as well as spoiling
Shaggy's run at the No. 1 slot with his Hotshot. Shaggy's album
has been enjoying a gradual rise, while other Top Ten albums have
fizzled; Hotshot sold 214,180 copies last week, a 10,000 copy
increase from the previous one. Further, the album only trailed
J.Lo's opening week splash by approximately 60,000 copies, no
small feat for an album that has been on shelves for nearly six
months.
While 1 fell to
the No. 4 slot and the Save the Last Dance soundtrack remained
static at No. 3, the Top Ten received an infusion of some new
blood in addition to its new chart-topper, though again, sales
numbers were hardly on pace with the year-end boom. Making the
Band's O-Town rode their eponymous debut to the No. 5 slot with
sales of 144,529, an impressive debut for your average pop
release, but a mere whimper when stacked against the first-week
numbers of boy-band products like 'N Sync's No Strings Attached
(2.4 million copies sold), the Backstreet Boys' Black and Blue
(1.6 million) and even 98 Degrees' Revelation (270,000). Also
finding a way into the Top Ten was Puff Daddy's all-female
quartet, Dream, who landed at No. 6 with It Was All a Dream.
Now That's What I Call Music Vol. 5, Dido's No Angel and Creed's
Human Clay all slipped slightly, but still clung to Top Ten slots.
Ja Rule's Rule 3:36 crept back in at No. 10, while Lenny Kravitz's
Greatest Hits, Sade's Lovers Rock, Limp Bizkit's Chocolate
Starfish and the Hot Dog Flavored Water and OutKast's Stankonia
fell to make way for the newcomers. The semi-Southern Rock
compilation Goin' South, which features classic rock staples from
the Allman Brothers Band, Lynyrd Skynyrd and others, came in at
No. 28, the only other debut in the Top 100.As for next week,
don't look for too much shuffling, as Vitamin C's More leads a
field of new releases void of serious contenders for the top
slots.

Singer/actress
lands at #1 with 'Wedding Planner,' J.Lo.
Teri
vanHorn reports:
As
if having the #1 movie weren't enough, Jennifer Lopez is top of the
pops as well.
The superstar singer/actress's second album, J.Lo, sold about
272,000 copies in its first week — enough to perch her firmly at
#1 on next week's Billboard 200 albums chart, according to industry
sources. Official numbers will be released by SoundScan on
Wednesday.
Lopez's lighting bolt debut upsets the Beatles' stranglehold on the
top spot, where their The Beatles 1 has spent the past seven weeks.
It appears that
Lopez is the first female performer in history to have a #1 album
and film at the same time; however, that could not be confirmed at
press time.read

Jennifer Lopez Tops 'Puffy' Witness List
Singer/actress'
name submitted by both prosecution, defense lawyers in criminal
trial of rap mogul, Jamal 'Shyne' Barrow.
Brian Hiatt
reports:
NEW YORK — Not
surprisingly, Jennifer Lopez is the most prominent name on the
lists of potential witnesses submitted Wednesday (January 24) by
lawyers on both sides of the criminal trial of Sean
"Puffy" Combs and Jamal "Shyne" Barrow.Lopez,
who accompanied Combs during his visit to Manhattan's Club New
York on the night of the shooting that sparked the case, appears
on lists submitted by both the prosecution and the defense. But the
lists — which technically include people who "may be
mentioned in testimony or may be called as witnesses" —
also include some less predictable well-known names.Producer
Deric "D-Dot" Angelettie, also known as the Madd Rapper,
is on the prosecution's list. Angelettie, a member of Combs' Bad
Boy stable of producers, is working on at least two tracks for
Shyne's upcoming second album.
Angelettie also once employed Shyne's lawyer, Ian Niles, to defend
him on charges that he attacked the editor of the now defunct
magazine Blaze. The charges were dropped.read

I'll be missing you?
Jennifer Lopez
will appear on America's Live With Regis today to rubbish reports
that she and Puff Daddy have split, according to the
singer-actress's spokesperson.A report in the New York Daily News
yesterday (Wednesday) claimed that Lopez has initiated a split
with Puffy, and had only stayed with Puffy to display a public
show of support in the lead up to his trial on gun possession and
bribery charges. The paper also claimed that Lopez's new boyfriend
is a dancer named Chris who appears in her new video, Love Don't
Cost A Thing.
Sources say the
pair have been dating discreetly for the past two months. Puffy is
apparently in 'massive denial' over the split, and when the paper
phoned Puffy for a comment the rapper would only speak glowingly
of Lopez. 'It's an overwhelmingly proud moment to watch someone
you love release an album and have a movie premiere. I'm happy for
her.'
If the rumours are
true then Lopez showed no signs of strain as she partied into the
early hours of the morning to celebrate the premiere of her new
film The Wedding Planner. Indeed in the forthcoming February issue
of Rolling Stone Lopez has given no indication of a split, hinting
it would come from Puffy if it happened at all. She is quoted as
saying, 'He's said to me so many times I want a divorce,' and that
his wild lifestyle would drive them apart rather than anything she
did as a self-confessed 'homebody.' The only comment the Latino
star made on Puffy's trial was 'We were somewhere we shouldn't
have been. It was a bad situation.'

Jennifer Lopez releases her album: J-Lo
With a dancing
resume that included a coveted spot as an In Living Color
Fly Girl, a movie career that has crowned her the highest paid
Latina to date and a multi-platinum debut album On the 6
already to her credit, Jennifer Lopez has left no territory in the
spotlight unexplored. Now the Latin lovely ventures behind the
scenes and tries her hand at executive co-producing her sophomore
release J.Lo (named after the term of endearment given to
her by neighborhood fans), and co-writing seven of its fifteen
songs (others helping her out are in the producing/writing
department are Cory Rooney, can't-miss-king Rodney Jerkins and
boyfriend Sean "Puffy" Combs). What results is an album
packed full of pillow talk and tough-girl pizzazz. However, that
pizzazz is sometimes trite and cliched, like on the peppy
"Walking On Sunshine" ("We can make it last
forever/Our love can stand the test of time").
Synthesized
keyboards, layered vocals, funk guitars, Latin rhythms, techno
sirens and melodramatic R&B balladry make this a collection of
genre-cross-pollinating, catchy if vocally unchallenging tunes.
First single "Love Don't Cost a Thing" is a
dance-worthy, clever retort to a hip-hop nation focused on
bling-bling and the gold-diggers it brings. Other standouts
include the Puffy-cameo'd "I'm Real," a funky tune
filled with stutter-step beats, synthesized keyboards, whoops,
whispers and hollers that invoke the spirits of Prince, Michael
and Janet circa 1986, while "That's the Way" is a
happy-go-lucky pop song injected with a little Latin and R&B
flava. Overall, Lopez uses her pipes to blow more wind than crack
windows, and the songs often borrow stylistically from those we
already know. Nevertheless, J.Lo accomplishes its only real
obligation as a successful pop album: it makes singing along and
shaking your booty irresistible.

Jennifer
Lopez was in two places at once in the early morning hours of
December 27, 1999, if two newly revealed witnesses to the shooting
that sparked Sean "Puffy" Combs' criminal trial can both
be believed.
Wildly differing accounts of the shooting at Manhattan's Club New
York emerged in court papers filed Wednesday (January 17), which
disclose that one witness has alleged that Lopez was "in the
middle" of the incident, while another witness claimed that
Lopez and Combs were far away when it happened.read

Lopez counts her cash
Jennifer Lopez is
officially the highest paid Hispanic woman in the history of
Hollywood according to America's Allure magazine.
Lopez topped the rich list after signing up for forthcoming movie
The Wedding Planner, a romantic comedy for which the star has
earned $9 million. However, the actress and singer has told Allure
that despite the financial rewards, her fame has cost her her
privacy and anonymity.
Lopez revealed that she has sought advice from other celebrities,
telling the magazine, 'You want fame but when it happens it's a
weird feeling. I started asking different celebrities who had been
in the business a long time, 'What do you do? Is this normal, this
feeling that I have? Is this going to be OK ... am I going
crazy?''
Jennifer Lopez added that she likes to relax by meditating,
exercising and reading books about spirituality.
